I like how specific it is to this trade and all the cool assets and features it has. I mean I always wanted to try drawing comics but the buy definitely solidified my resolve.Īnyways, I think it was worth it. Thinking about the money i spent helped motivate me more to be actively using the program lol.

It was the same when I decided to upgrade to EX.

I hate wasting money, you know, so when I decided to buy the Pro version at full price I made sure to use it for the first short comic I managed to finish XD CSP for me was kind of like catalyst for comic-making. If youve read the comparison list between Photoshop and Manga Studio 5, you probably got hit in the face with a lot of jargon about how theyre different. But when it comes to comic making, everything but thumbnails is in CSP EX. A review of Manga Studio 5 showcasing the features that are better than Adobe Photoshop for digital drawing and painting. Paint tool Sai is still my main for all things related to illustrated painted pieces. I used PS to edit my final piece tho, but man Photoshop is heavy on my system and expensive af so fuck 'em lol. I just liked how simple it was, I was struggling with translating my traditional art skills to digital form and the structure of SAI made it more comfortable because it didn't feel like a huge jump in tools or process-you put color on page and mix and blend or paint over with another color easy-peasy. But when paint tool sai came out, it quickly became my main program for everything.

I had that program before I even had a tablet and was just messing around with a mouse. Manga Studio vs Photoshop Who Wins Choosing between Manga Studio vs Photoshop, you need to decide what you are going to use these software for. Manga studio is awesome, just wish it wasnt called "Manga Studio" haha.So like every person who started drawing with a tablet in the early 2000s, I have my roots in photoshop when it comes to digital art. Completely disregarding all the other ways its useful. I googled my case, and I was told to upgrade to CSP, will it b.

Not trying to be defensive about Photoshop but some people will sing the praises of a simpler program here on DA because its simpler to learn or used by other anime artists etc. Ive had Manga Studio 5 for years now, with the update from Windows, it now wont work. Its not just for photo editing and some painting and if you want to get an art job you have to learn it.
In other words, readers should no longer be thinking of buying Manga Studio, unless you're wanting an older version of the product. So Clip Studio Paint Ex 1.5.4 could be thought of as Manga Studio Ex 6 (or 5.x). Its also what EVERY STUDIO uses and is more of a complete package than a specialized program. or maybe more specifically, the latest version of Clip Studio is the latest version of Manga Studio. I can do 2d animation with sound and effects and even some light video editing. If you haven’t used it yet, you should try it as soon as you can simply because it’s one of the most useful tools out there. I use Photoshop because I can drag a 3d model and unwrap, texture, light, and stage it. Clip Studio Paint, or Manga Studio as it was known earlier, remains a preferred tool of many Manga and Anime designers. Some people just need to get out of the habit of "sketching" their lines zoomed in close to the canvas, I did that for years. This is where you do the stroke very quickly, hitting ctrl-z until you get the line where you want. I achieved clean lines just though "point and shoot" technique for lineart. I wouldnt say you "have to" get Lazy Nezumi for clean lines in Photoshop.
